The Last Supper Painted With Words

It was in November of 2011. I knelt down to pray in a dimly lit chapel. This was the third night of an eight-day silent Christian retreat. Little did I know, that what was about to transpire over the next fifteen minutes would not only change my life, but also touch and change the lives of thousands of others around the world. Discover how it might change your life too.

We are currently journeying our way through Lent and preparing ourselves for the upcoming celebration of Easter. Soon, Holy Week will arrive. Our primary focus that week will rightfully be on the death and resurrection of our Lord. One of the other highlights that week will be Holy Thursday and the remembrance of the Last Supper. We dare not overlook the mystery of the Last Supper, for it calls us to a conversion of heart and mind.

Speaking of the Last Supper, I am thrilled to introduce you to my new book. I can’t imagine a better time to tell you about it than during the season of Lent. In my book, I attempt to do with words what Leonardo Da Vinci did with a brush when he painted the Last Supper. I invite you to pause here for two minutes and watch the following video.

(Please share this video on your social media pages.)

In the stillness of the night, on the second-floor chapel of the Magnificat House nestled on the shores of Tampa Bay, with only the hushed sound of waves lapping the shoreline, God spoke plainly to my heart. The message that God shared with me is the message that I want to share with you in my book, Blessed Broken & Scared Becoming Eucharist for a Starving World.

Blessed, Broken, and Scared. What does that mean? We know that Jesus took bread, blessed it, broke it, and shared it with His friends saying, “This is my body, which will be given for you; do this in memory of me.” The Last Supper challenges us to live in such a way that we actually become the sacred food of Jesus Christ for others as we share our lives with them. That can be scary!

Blessed, Broken, and Scared is a book for all Christians. It calls the reader to a conversion from living a scared life to living a shared life. It is in sharing our life with others that we find the healing and peace we truly seek. All people are wounded by the world and have areas of hidden brokenness in their life. My prayer is that my new book will offer you hope, healing, and change as it explores the profound implications of God’s mercy, forgiveness, and love.

I have shared these 4th Day Letters with people around the world for over 10 years. I have been sharing God’s message through my Blessed, Broken, and Scared retreats across the United States for almost as long. Now that message has been captured in this book. Here are some comments about the book’s message:

  • “Brian opens himself to all and helped us see that our brokenness isn’t a deterrent to God’s love and healing.”
  • Should be required for today’s Christians and Catholics.”
  • “I have been to many seminars, webinars, retreats and have been blessed to have read many great books, but I have to say…this impacted my life as to learning more about God’s will in my life than any other book, resource, event ever has! Thanks be to God!”

This past week, I had the blessed opportunity to return to that wonderful retreat center in Clearwater, Florida for reflection and prayer. It was fitting that I should be there to pray for the official announcement and release of my book. After all, my life was dramatically reshaped as a result of the encounter I had with God there in 2011. Now, I want you to experience the same type of dramatic change in your own life. Writing my book was a five-year labor of love. I am so excited to finally be able to share the fruits of my labor with you.

The proceeds of this book will be used to support Broken Door Ministries in its effort to get the good news of the infinite mercy of Jesus Christ out to the world. I hope you will join me in my efforts to share this good news by not only purchasing a copy of the book for yourself, but also by purchasing another copy of the book for someone who might need its healing message.

If you have been wounded in any way by this broken world of ours, or if you have ever struggled to rid yourself of some area of recurring sin, or if you simply desire to deepen your relationship with God, it is my hope that this book will offer help and healing.

One last special note, the book will also be available within a few weeks in Spanish and I am currently working on an audio version of the book. I hope to have it completed before summer. Click here to order your book(s) today.

Heavenly Father, we all have wounds and brokenness in our life. I have tried faithfully to capture the message you placed on my heart in this book. Now I want to share this message with others. I ask you to touch and heal the hearts of everyone who reads these words. In Jesus name I pray. Amen!

Brian, remind me again what “AMDG” means at the end of your letters.

Ad maiorem Dei gloriam or Ad majórem Dei glóriam rendered as the abbreviation AMDG, is a Latin term meaning. “For the greater glory of God.”
